Which advanced riding course?

Recommended Posts

Passed my DAS over a year ago now and thought about looking at some advanced riding this summer. Two option that I am looking at is;

1. Join a local bike club and do IAM

2. Join a local bike club and do RoSPA

Now, IAM or RoSPA, or both? What do you think?

Do a BikeSafe course with the Police and see how you feel after that. They normally encourage further training and may have info on both advanced groups. Our local IAM group do regular rideouts that you can tag along with to get a feel for what they're about.....and then you can sign up if you feel it's for you...... 8-)

I have done the bikesafe Tango. Loved it and asked about further training. They gave me the address of my local advanced club.

You are correct raesewell, testing is every three years with RoSPA. Trouble is both IAM and RoSPA claim that theirs are the best. Just wanted to see from you guys thought.

Is it common practice to do an advanced course straight after the DAS? Has anyone noticed if it lowers your insurance premiums by doing advanced training?

I don't know if it is common but I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be done. Any extra training can only improve your confidence and ability.

From what I can tell, reduced insurance depends on the insurance company. Some insurers give a reduction while others don't.
