Roof Boxer V8

Had this nearly a year now, originally was quite uncomfortable but I persevered with it by using it on short trips to " break it in"

It's now very comfy.

Pros

Excellent versility, I love the removable chin strap that allows you to ride open face

Cons

Wind noise! It's terrible, I've learned to turn my head ever so slightly to one side and this reduces it

Easily marked. I bought the matte black one and fingerprints show up so easily, and it also scratches with not too much effort also.

Replacement visors are also quite expensive

When I replace it in the new year, I may get another but I'll certainly look round to see what else is available

That's the trouble buying a lid... You don't really know what's it's like until you've used it, every ones got different views on the comfort or discomfort etc.

I wonder... people who go give £400 or £500 for a lid and don't really like it or something niggles them about ,do they just bite the bullet and put up with it.

Yeah, wind noise db at various speeds on unfaired bikes. .......as a guide.

My Bell lid is a bit noisy at speed, but makes up for that in being lightweight, comfortable and good vision and ventilation ....... 8-)

Only one company uses a wind tunnel for testing flip or system helmets. Schuberth. But they have an advantage, they've been making them since 1978.. Started after a crackpot suggestion from BMW. The wind tunnel is, so far as I'm aware about making them as quiet as possible, so coppers in particular can hear their radios at speed.

Nothing like Roof helmets, obviously which are heavily geared towards style and visual impact.

There's one chap... Who is worth listening to who believes and has data to demonstrate that flip helmets are riskier in certain circumstances. Maybe he'll chip in. But as for me.. The advantages outweigh any extra risk. I've found that the best way to survive a crash... Is not to have one in the first place.

Call me old fashioned.
