onesea Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Presently I use photo bucket, it used to be a cracking way of posting to forums sharing large photos etc...Now its become slow clunky and strewn with adverts. Yes I have an add block but the phone app is becoming increasingly annoying...Can anyone else recommend a simple system of similar type?I know there is google and one drive or which ever but they always want to take over and copy EVERYthing on your computer... What would you recommend? Or is Photobucket as good as it gets Quote
Arwen Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I use a combination of Google Photos and Flickr. For Google photos I simply open the photo, right click it and select "Copy image address" then paste this into [ img ] tags on the forum. This normally works but some times Google can be a pest and you have to use Picasa instead of Google Photos to get the address. On flickr you can use the share option to get the bbcode. Flickr automatically adds all the tags you need to get this - Onwards by Arwen, on Flickr Quote
Hoggs Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I use Imgur - the default is all private albums, there are settings to make them public or effectively re-upload them again if you want to post them to the gallery. And they have all the tags for easy forum sharing. There may be a limit of a couple hundred images you can have though (unless you pay to go pro) Quote

Paul-Kent Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Downloaded imgur but can't find where to get the img code, all I can see is the link code Quote
Hoggs Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 On mobile there's a drop down box you need direct link. On computers they should have all the options down the right hand side Quote
Paul-Kent Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 All I have on the iPad is copy link [emoji53]http://imgur.com/f3ZpDhi Quote
Hoggs Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Hmm well if you use that in the [img ] tags but add .jpg to the end of the address it will work direct link just adds that for youhttp://imgur.com/f3ZpDhi.jpgSo above looks like this (but without the spaces in the tags!)[ img]http://imgur.com/f3ZpDhi.jpg[/img] Quote

Paul-Kent Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Well that don't work!Back to pbucket[emoji1] Quote
Hoggs Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I'd say you may have a space in the url? Downside of mobiles they tend to try and guess what you're trying to do and normally get it wrong Quote

Joeman Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Seems there is some good demand for an easy to use photo sharing site for forums....Thinking cap on... Quote
Hoggs Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Ooh it's bugging me now! Can you screen shot what you see when you edit the post so I can see what's occurring? May have to use photobucket to host it haha Quote
Paul-Kent Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I've deleted the app now [emoji1]I have little or no patience for technology, if it don't work straight away, I'm done with it!Years ago I had the same issue with Flickr. Problem is the older I get the more it gets complicated [emoji53] Quote
onesea Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Seems there is some good demand for an easy to use photo sharing site for forums....Thinking cap on... It would be appreciated nothing here seems to make it easy upload from phone direct link on laptop tablet... Pbucket does do it but adds are getting more common and annoying.....The suggestions so far well I am staying with the devil I know.... Quote
NeilM Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 All I do is take a screen shot then slightly crop the photo. It should then load onto the site. Quote
onesea Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Well Photobucket was the decision, better the devil you know.... Yet its down completely at the moment had a couple of tags to upload and its not working at all... Quote
Wynne G Oldman Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 I too would like to use an alternative to Photobucket. It was OK when I first started using it, but now, as the OP mentioned, it's an annoying, ad laden, slow, pain in the arse site to use. Quote
Joeman Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Google photos is brilliant. Syncs with your phone so all pics are backed up. Create a public folder for forum pics and share from there. Quote
