Stu Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 you wont catch me there! causing a nuisance to give the council more ammo! how about no one visit! Quote
fullscreenaging Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I went to Matlock on the bike one summer Sunday about 8/9 years ago. NEVER AGAIN!! Quote
tuktuk Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Whats it all about? Im not on facebook...Im not even from the area, just nosey lol. Quote
Six30 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 this has been going on for years , should imagine it's massive part of the cafes / restaurants income, is it just the council trying to generate cash with parking tickets or are locals moaning.Rode through there couple of years back and it was chocker with bikes, it was a fine sight . techno Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Ive been many times in the past an tbh I've never known why it's such a draw for bikers. Quote
Chrissb6 Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 This rally is not just about Matlock, it seems that the council is trying to enforce the same parking restriction on the bikes as the cars, where as you have to purchase a parking tickethttp://www.morebikes.co.uk/matlock-bath ... announced/I suppose the train of thought is, if they succeed here, other councils will jump onto it making it almost impossible to park up at your favourite ride outs - meets and attractions. Hence why there such a lot of interest from the biking community and heat in the protest Folks attending from near and far Quote
tuktuk Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Surely its never going to be impossible to park a bike in a car park. Quote
Mr Fro Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Surely its never going to be impossible to park a bike in a car park. You've clearly not been to Cambridge. Quote
Chrissb6 Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Surely its never going to be impossible to park a bike in a car park. With the councils for ever getting squeezed by central government "Austerity l think they call it" They have to and will look into any way or form to gather revenue, sure you'll be able to park your bike but you will be on pay and display and restricted. Traffic wardens are not there to marshal they are there to issue tickets and collect. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 trouble is with pay and display where can you display a ticket on a bike thats safe other users of the car park will be able to walk up to the bike take the ticket and use it in or on what ever they are driving/riding so you get the parking ticket and they park for free thats one good reason bikes should be free to park Quote
Six30 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Cover your reg plate up , the little hitlers can't uncover it .... I think Quote
Chrissb6 Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Cover your reg plate up , the little hitlers can't uncover it .... I thinkI wouldn't want to try that one, your more than likely to find your bike I a compound and a bigger penalty - fine to get it out. Quote
JRH Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 More car parks are using ticket machine which print reg number, or phone to park and no ticket issued just yor reg number in a data base accessed by the parking wardens. Quote

Wouldn't do it on my bike , I'd watch Rant park his new bike some where and do it to his , find a good vantage point in a nearby cafe and see what happens Quote
