Hi all :)

Just been out on my rs 125 after riding for about 40 mins i got near home slowing down at some traffic lights then i heard quiet a bit of sqeeking from either the back shock or the front forks?

Could this be dangerous?

The guy at the mot shop said i need my front brake pad replacing soon so it could be that?

If you found you're bike to be doing these noises would you carry on riding?

Or could it be serious do you think?

Thanks :)

Could be dust between the pads and discs, could be the brake is binding - perhaps you're resting your foot on the pedal.

Try changing the suspect pad and see if careful reassembly sorts out the problem.

And don't ride like an eeejit until you're happy with it.

Does it squeak when you apply the brakes, or does it just squeak all the time?

I just noticed it coming home before, It's when I'm slowing down i can hear squeaking.

When i got it home before i jumped up and down on the seat and the back shock seemed to squeak quiet alot.

The front fork did to although not as noisy or much.

Could using wd40 help?

Or is that not recommended for this?

I'm going to change the front brake pads in a week or so they feel ok for the time being.

Dont go near the brakes with WD40 if you still want to stop

if it is your brakes before changing the pads make sure theres copper slip inbetween the chatter plate and the disc, this can cause the brakes to squeak

So it squeaks when your slowing down, its probably your brake pads then seen as someone said they're nearly worn down. They usually wear on one edge more than the other, so sometimes they look okay but they're not. I'd change the pads first and see if the squeaking disappears.

Don't use WD40 for the pads, infact don't use it for your suspension either

Could using wd40 help?

I only use WD on tight nuts :? good old 3in1 for general oiling (squeeks

are incuded in that) and grease for major jobs (copper slip if its likely to

heat up)

P.S. never on break pads

Ginge - have you noted that?

DON'T USE WD40 on BRAKES :!: :!: :!: :!:

Just acknowledge that to put my mind at ease

Yep thanks for the warning father zed :)

I haven't got around to do it yet I'm going to have a play in a min or two.

Don't worry i won't be using that that's for sure on the brakes, thanks for the warning mate :)
