It only applies to vehicles registered on or after 1st April so wont affect many of us just yet

I have just bought a 2nd hand car!

1 of the main deciding points was that it's £30 a year tax!

I just know that they'll put it up now

It won't go up

And I certainly hope my £0 VED doesn't

I considered one of those, on the basis that the bike will provide the speedy fun time.

Got the 185bhp Leon FR.

we have the Leon but sadly not the FR

We did have an ibiza FR and to be honest it was too harsh on our roads

Still wish I had got the FR now though! there is some toys I would have liked!

But I may retro fit them

I notice the OP's link refers to 'vehicles' being taxed at a flat rate. Does that mean a 50cc moped will be liable for the same tax as a Luton van, for example?

It does have an impressive number of buttons and gadgets! Only thing lacking really is the radar cruise control my old company car had - amazing for long journeys.

Looks like it's cars - couldn't find anything on bikes from a quick scan.

The whole thing seems like another means-tested afair which seems to be the in thing at the mo.

"Tesla Tax"

even thought your car is 100% electric, because it cost more than £40k the government want to tax you ...

Yes I would like that too coupled with the DSG gearbox it would be like driving an semi auto pilot car

Exactly. Just because you want to spend £40k+ on a car. Plus it's an extra £310/year for 5 years.

It'll be interesting to see how many manufacturers offer a base spec at £39999 when the new policy comes in.

New car has the dsg, and I'm still not sure which of the two options is my favourite!

I was looking at Australia. Seems the least messed up English speaking part of the world at the moment.
