TC1474 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Makes a complete mockery of the legal process in this country. What sort of message does this send out? (as if we don't know the answer already)http://www.itv.com/news/2017-02-23/motorist-with-62-licence-points-among-thousands-of-12-plus-points-offenders-still-allowed-to-drive/ Quote
Hoggs Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 How the hell does he even get insurance with that many points????? Also this very subject is being discussed on the Jeremy Vine RAdio 2 show later *prepares to get angry* Quote
Guest Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 disgustingI agree we need some leniency, say max 18 in cases of hardship if licence is lost but ONLY in extreme cases. If your job, house etc depends on your driving then don't drive like a tit.If a train driver exceeded the speed limits or did a few SPADS they would be sacked on the spot. Joeman Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 I remember in my youth getting a taxi to court because I was already on 6 points and was convinced I was going to get banned!Luckily the magistrate took into account my situation (needed car to get to university) and only gave me 5 more points so for the next few years I was driving like a grandma as I knew another set would take my licence away... That's the point of the hard 12point limit to make people slow down and think about what they are doing... But as soon as people realise that 12point limit is flexible the incentive to slow down has gone... Quote

bmwdave Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 One law for the rich, one law for the rest of us. Someone I know killed a cyclist while driving her porsche and using a phone. She had Nick Freeman as her lawyer, didn't go to jail, and when her ban ended bought a new bigger porsche -she killed the cyclist driving a boxer and replaced with a 911 variant. Killing someone while on the phone should get you locked up for 10 tears. Quote

The ego of most Americans is larger than the Atlantic Ocean....California and utah does have some curvy roads.... and they made it round those!Utah driving is shocking, the speeds some of them do in snow is scary....I pride myself on not having any points. Either I am a safe driver or been lucky I haven't been caught when I have been an idiot and done something stupid. Quote
