Soopercereal Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Hi guys, it's o lying a quick question, and if we don't get to the bottom of it it's fine as I don't plan to have this bike any longer than Summer at the latest. So I have a Sinnis ST 125, it's only a cheap nasty bike but it's done me really well over the past 6 months and I've had no problems even though I only paid £650 for it... Anywho, when I try to start the bike with the electric start it makes like a wet farming noise, hard to explain, and I have to kick start it (sometimes it starts first time, sometimes it takes a little while). Once it gets started it cuts out pretty quickly, amd if I turn the throttle it cuts out instantly... After a few times though I can get it going, or if I run it with the carb open. I was at a light earlier though and it completely cut out when i was waiting. I think itcould be the battery as the kick start does work eventually but the electric start doesn't. Other than that the bike is working fine and I think will continue to last a little while, just wondering if there are any easy fixes for this sort of thing as I'm not mechanically minded. First post here so thanks for the help, you guys seem to have a nice community Quote
JamBerryKing Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 sounds like its the battery to me. depending on the age of it, it could be the reg/rec or any other part of the charging circuit not working correctly. change the battery out and it should be fine.welcome by the way Quote
Glorian Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 £650..? Ok can't really moan-...Ok I have to get it out. f**k Sinnis. But back to the issue, I'm not sure it's battery only as you've said it cut out while you'd been riding it? Sounds more likely to be something with the engine itself. Quote
ThePhatomfart Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 HI, your bike is based on the Yamaha YBR125 , so any fault finding should be done along those lines, check all connectors on the wiring, have a look at YBR problems on this site to give you an idea of the fault Quote

fastbob Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 On a more helpful note it sounds like the battery is low on power. The noise is probably the starter relay (solenoid) buzzing instead of making a circuit. When the battery gets worse it will just click and when the battery is really dead it wont do anything at all. Are the lights dimming when this happens? Quote
