Foxy Stoat seeks Pig Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 No great drama but seems the side stand spring and/or switch is all gummed up and not working correctly. Not surprising as I have been riding daily all through winter. Had to pull it out the switch fully with my finger to get it started to get home, then tried to get it on the centre stand instead of the side stand and dropped the bike against the side of house.....doh!Anyway, i had this problem in September when I opened up the switch and give it a good lube with spray oil. Did the job but its there anything I can use which will last longer. I have 3 in oil, multi oil, silicone oil, GT85, WD40, ACF 50, copper grease and red rubber grease. Which, if any, of those would do a decent job??I have given the stand spring and switch a quick spray tonight but want to give it a proper seeing to when I have time at the weekend.Cheers. Quote
Mr Fro Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Take it off and short the wires. If you don't want to do that you could bung it up with grease to stop road grime getting in. Quote

Thanks. Really do not want to take it off for the sake of greasing it every few months. Any particular type of grease I should use? Quote
Foxy Stoat seeks Pig Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 I'd go with the ACF50 personally....... I mentioned I had some because its worked wonders on my disclock mechanisms. Quote
