Hull Motor Show - August Bank Holiday

hello all, been talking to Vicki for a while now about a show I help organise in Hull, we had the first one last year and it was a massive success, its called the HULL MOTOR SHOW, and was held in East Park in Hull in August last year...

i belong a local car club, not to everyones tastes as its a cruise site, we go to local meets and local and national cruises and shows...

anyway, for the past 4 years we've been working with the council here and also the police to try and get ourselves a more positive profile, rather then the usual "chav boy racer" tag which most of us most certainly are NOT (altho some are I have to admit lol..) We also have half a dozen bikers in our ranks, mostly with blades a couple of zx's...

over the last 3 years we've done 3 legal cruises with council backing and raised over £2,500 for local and national charities, including Asthma UK and a local childrens charity, "For The Kids"..

last year we moved up a level, and had our first HULL MOTOR SHOW.. we had around 25 clubs attend, the police, fire brigade and local 4x4 rescue teams were there and had stands, as did around 6 or 7 traders..

we had around 350 - 400 cars, bikes, trikes and trucks there, and something like 3- 4,000 visitors..

the entrance to visitors is free, with each car driver paying a fiver to have their car on their respective clubstand, (£3 for bikes).. this goes towards organising the event and ultimately most of it goes to our chosen charity..

the catering is done by the venue, EAST PARK in Hull, and one of the stipulations we the organisers made was that they would NOT increase their prices for the show, they were true to their word so food is very cheap compared to most shows...

the whole point of the show is to move away from the nomal, expensive, commercialised shows and get back to what motor shows SHOULD be about.. something we think we did very well last year... we had a wide variety of vehicles there, so this is NOT specifically a car, bike OR truck show, but a mixture of them all...

anyway, sorry to go on, and as an ex-biker (last bike ZZR1100 but my heart was always old school power like z1000's and the like) this may not be the place for me to ask, but would The Motorbike Forum be interested in attending the show, Im not expecting names down yet as its not while 24th August, but more trying to guage interest from people...

we have a large local classic car club coming this year, as well as the local cruise, japanese and american sites, plus hotrods, trikes and trucks, so as you can see theres something for everyone...

the proceeds are split between the park, The Daisy Appeal (a local charity for cancer research) and the club I represent who organise it and staff it...

last year we raisd over £1,000 for the charity, and nearly £900 for the park..

so there ya go, comments welcome, if its not for this club then thats cool, but thought I'd just test the water to see if it was something you may be interested in..

all the best..

Tony

With regard to this...... the forum can have a stall, its own area, to show the bikes and promote the site.... sooooo...

Me and willow are gonna be involved....does anyone else fancy it?

Could do a lil BBQ again and camping at mine.... only prob is its a 9am start on the Sunday  so would have to do our serious party BBQ another weekend.

If you're up for it.....either to come on the day, or help out with leaflets, stickers/banner....Matty?? Vote above and post below what you will be able to offer, or any ideas you have.

Yep, I'm in

You can use my bike on the stand (always nice to have a classic), and we can use the van to make brews put the sun shade out etc etc etc. I can also man the stand and chat to peeps and stuff.

can put together a whole heap of pictures and run them on a laptop, could even see if I can scrounge a projector as well.

sure there is other stuff I can help out with as well, just cant think of it at the moment.

oh yea and i look good in me leathers

In a word - NO NO NO NO NO I wont loose the stickers

If you can get willow to clean her bike she may be allowed to put it on there as well.

Oh and if you want we could trailer them up on the van and then use the van with its sun-shade thing to cover the stand (means a fridge and brews!)
