martin66
Firstly, I know nothing about bikes, and this is the first I bought. It is a 16 plate that started fine when I bought it a few weeks ago. I garaged it as have not done my CBT yet. I went to start it the other day and it would turn over but not start. Then read about the side stand switch, so put the stand up and away she went. Few days later, turned the key and no lights etc so spoke to a mate who suggested I get a trickle charger, which I did. Now the charger shows the battery charged and the lights etc work but you press the starter button, it clicks and does nothing else, no lights etc. I keep going round in circles. I haven't a clue where to start so any help gratefully received.
mikestrivens
If you’ve left it with a flat battery you may find battery is toast.
fastbob
Yep , sounds like the battery is knackered .
leener
Yep. Battery. If you were near Bristol I could let you have one of mine, if they fit. I have at least four good bike batteries.
martin66
Thanks for the advice and the offer but I live in Scotland. She will kick start but I guess it will be a new battery (probably paid more for the charger!).
mikestrivens
The charger will still be useful for when you leave the bike for long periods.
fastbob
Beware of running a bike with a dead battery. The next thing to go wrong could be the rectifier-regulator ( part of the charging system ) The current has to have somewhere to go and the rec-reg may overheat and fry . Get a new battery as soon as possible.
