BIKERDAD Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Hi . As the heading says .I'm looking for some info . On an electrical matter (2 in fact but I might have worked out the 2ad one ) 1st .I have a number of items running off my motabat battery . One heated grips. 2 jack points for charging up phone sat nav + the thick socket like the ciggy lighter . And my LED lights . Now I'm not sure if I can keep adding to the terminals even the motbat has 4 not 2 like normal battery. So I'm asking how can I just have one set running off the terminals on to say an extension lead type idea . So I just connect the extra to the extension lead not the battery . What so.i need to buy thanks . Quote
BIKERDAD Posted June 23, 2018 Author Posted June 23, 2018 Opps the 2an one is I just spotted early on my back light is on push the brake nothing happened the light just stayed on . So I poped the brake caliper off and my pads are all most bare ?????? Feck I just put new on 3k ago . EBC ones too so if bought gold type which is for sport hard braking .so once they arrive and pop them on the back light should go off ......right ....???? Quote
Bender Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 As long as the wire is thick enough and your connections are good and your battery/alternator can cope then it should be fine, make sure it's well insulated, protected and not going to rub. Quote
BIKERDAD Posted June 23, 2018 Author Posted June 23, 2018 Yes they are . But just looks so dam untidy all these wires bulking up the battery just wondering if there a better way that's all Quote

SlowBusa Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Christ! for those prices I would expect them to come to my house and do the wiring for me!Im in the middle of cleaning up my wiring too Quote
mikestrivens Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Christ! for those prices I would expect them to come to my house and do the wiring for me!... Good luck on that!! Quote
mikestrivens Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 I guess a cheaper method would be to just add a new fuse block and run everything from that. Quote
Mr Fro Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Christ! for those prices I would expect them to come to my house and do the wiring for me! Same here. I was expecting £50 tops!BIKERDAD, check the consumption of the things you run and treble it - this is the "safe" rating of wire you'll need to run from the battery to a junction box. You'll also need to stick a fuse at the battery end - this can be just over the consumption value of all your stuff. You could do the junction as a mini fuse panel with a relay driven by the sidelight or something.Have a look at RS Components for all the connecty bits and bobs. You could probably put something together for £20ish depending on how swish you make it. Quote

Joeman Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 take a look at this old thread:https://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=59453https://www.cosmo-accessories.com/online-store/electronics-computers/relay-pcb-board-info.html Quote
raesewell Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 I use one of these for all of my accessories.https://www.nippynormans.com/f650st-f650cs-f650gs-f650-dakar/fuzeblock-switchable-fuse-panelIt may seem like a lot of money, however it can easily be moved from bike to bike. I have had mine on three bikes so far. It makes wiring in any accessory very easy. The battery terminals get cluttered very quickly once you start accessorising your bike. Quote
JRH Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 You can use something like this available from Halfords in the audio sectionBought one to tidy up the feeds from the slave relay, not got round to fitting it yet Quote
BIKERDAD Posted June 24, 2018 Author Posted June 24, 2018 I was I there to day asking about some thing like this from there electrical section .I never thought looking at the audio section . Owell another trip tomorrow lol . Quote
Joeman Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Get a big fuse too and wire it in as close the the battery as possible. But nothing you're planning to wire in needs a connecting block that heavyweight. Quote
JRH Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 I did not get it for the current rating of the unit main,y for the amount of circuits that can be connected. 8 circuits easily. Quote
