Max KMH

105 kph

Max Power

(13.7 hp) 10.2bhp (7.6kW) @ 8500rpm

--------------------

didnt expect 65 mph

However seems strange its as fast going up a 1 mile reasonably steep hill as it is on the flat

Someone might have put a bigger rear sprocket on it . Or , and I hate to say this , it might be clapped out . It's a 125 so I doubt anyone would have restricted it .

I once had 75 ( indicated ) out of a 1976 CG 125 on level ground with my weight at around 17 stone . I think the very early ones had a bigger carb . If memory serves, the engine was a hybrid that I knocked up from a Brazilian bottom end and a Japanese top end with a fresh rebore . It crackled and popped a bit at slower speeds but was surprisingly quick when I opened it up . So to return to the OP , I think 40 mph is a bit weak by any standards .

Cleaned the carbs

fiddled with the airscrew

tops out 62 mph

2013 done 8 k

------

bought for £350

failed 1st m o t ( tbh used m o t to tell me what was wrong with it )

greased sticking headstock faulty rear brake light total cost £60

had to replace speedo as wouldnt show over 40 and mileage indicator was reading twice the distance covered

ie ride 5 miles was clocking 10 £70

anyone know what distance can be covered using reseve ?
