Pacemaker Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I've only seen talk of it being a race bike upto yet, not seen or heard any gossip of a road version Quote
Guest Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Well the tourers seem to be ok, so why not Sports..........who knows maybe, just maybe ........The Japs are starting to loose the Sports bike market....albeit very slowly Quote
Pacemaker Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 The Japs are starting to loose the Sports bike market....albeit very slowly I'm not surprised, the build quality on some of these new bikes nower days is shocking. Quote
PMC Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 There is an article about it in BIKE magazine. Apparently they have to sell it in order to compete in WSB.Most of the european superbikes a fair bit more expensive than the japanese ones. The BMW HP2 is like 5K more - but this one, which won't have BMW's odd styling or crazy suspension tech will be direct competition in the same price bracket. Coming 2009. Quote
Guest Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 (edited) Maybe the Japs have got complacent thinking it was their market......After all Ducati does rather well on the Race front theses days maybe they just need to make the prices more competitive.I'd ride a Duke in Black 8) http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/8734/2007ducati1098ssuperbikpe0.jpg Edited May 16, 2008 by Anonymous Quote
Ade Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 There's one surefire way to tell if it's a beemer. If it only comes with 12" wheels, matt paint and the frame as standard, with everything else on an options list....... Quote
Stu Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 i heard it was to enter into the moto GP soon see ps drew what is a missle ? Quote
Pacemaker Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 It's how the americans say it so it makes it sound better. Quote
PMC Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 @stu_mI have to admit I know very little about the racing, but here is the quote from BIKE: The S1000RR will contend the 2009 World Superbike series in full, run by BMW in conjunction with German race outfit Alpha-Technik. Why WSB and not MotoGP? Von Kuenheim: 'Here, unlike MotoGP, riders are able to watch motocycles in direct competition with competitors. And while racing is never cheap, Superbike is more affordable the MotoGP. You need $40 million for success in MotoGP. In WSB you need a quarter of that budget." So basically they're a bit tight And the cynical would say they are only bothering as a promotional tool. Quote
Stu Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 it was some time ago when i read it in a bike mag bloody tight gits arent they Quote
Korben Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Wow, not what I was expecting!!Looks like they are pushing themselves into this market. Quote
harrycpr Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 NO BECAUSE BMW CANNOT THINK OF THEIR OWN STYLING...............BLATANT RIP OFF OF A YAMAHA....THAT IS SO SIMILAR TO THE R6 OR R1....... Quote
