The nation's premier motorcycle racing series - the Bennetts British Superbike Championship - will be at Silverstone in September for the circuit's biggest bike event of the year.

More InformationBritish Superbikes Hospitality Official Website Accommodation Expectations will be high in 2008 as the riders and teams head to Silverstone for the penultimate round of the two wheeled series.

Leon Haslam leads the pack of title contenders and is brimming with confidence as he heads up the HM Plant Honda challenge. The young British rider will also be going all-out to clinch the championship crown before heading into the last round of the season.

But Haslam won't have it all his own way. Shane Byrne will be aiming to regain the crown he held four years ago as he lines up alongside Leon Camier on board Airwaves Ducati's latest 1098R bikes, while the NorthWest 200 backed team are running a similar machine for the experienced and popular Michael Rutter.

Partnering Leon Haslam at Honda, Cal Crutchlow - former British Supersport Champion - is another young rider to watch out for in 2008.

Support races at Silverstone will include the competitive British Supersport Championship, National Superstock and British 125GP, ensuring an action packed weekend of top class, two wheeled racing.

Away from the track there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

When was that write up done? Haslam leading the pack? brimming with confidence?

I fully expect the title will be wrapped up either before or at that meeting but it won't be a Honda that will be at the front.

Silverstone need someone to update their websites.

Might pop along if it's not all over by then.
