Yamaha SR125 project. No spark.

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I've just brought a yamaha SR125 to do up and use over winter.

I've got no spark whatsoever. I've put a new coil on, spark plug, new battery and checked all the earths and they are all good.

There is constant power to the coil but this isn't broken when you turn the engine over (I'm guessing this is how you get the spark)

What else am I missing?

Sr are renowned for the cdi unit to go ( most restrict power to 45mph )

Check the wiring connector for the cdi/ecu as also prone to corrosion.

They are all clean and corrosion free. Do you know if there is a way of testing the CDI/ECU ?

Is a procedure in haynes manual using a multimeter if i remember correctly.

( not being patronising or such but always Remember to check all basics first , its amazing at how many people overlook things

Ie

kill switch is off

Fuses intact etc
