If you had to pick one rider who inspired you more then.....

I know Sheene was riding until '86 but I never really got to see him, I'm fairly new to riding and although I use to watch the odd race with Schwarz/Rainey/Gardiner when younger. It never really grabbed my attention.

First time it did I think was the Bayliss/Edwards WSB battle BBC had great coverage and I started watching them, then flicked across to MotoGP same year and saw this guy called Rossi and the amazing Repsol Honda. I was hooked.

So I know it says pick one. So I would have to say Rossi got me into bikes.

However after watching many videos/dvds about Sheene's countless accidents and how he always got back up. Sheene/Edwards/Bayliss would be close seconds.

My Granddad

I remember him telling me about how him and his mates used to lie flat on their bikes and ride them down hill to try and hit a ton! And putting wire wool in the exhaust to make them flame :D :D :D

Later in life he took his entire family on holiday on his bike... He would wear a large rucksack back-to-front, Grandma pillion with another rucksack, Great-Grandma and three kids (including my Mum) in the sidecar.

Inspiring!

Would like to say Sheene because he was my racing God from the begining but I was at Oulton Park one Sunday in '83 (I think) when a young guy called Freddie Spencer blew everyone away, he put a new racing line through Deer's leap

Gotta be Fast Freddie for me 8)

Got to be Sheene. Watching him ride in the 70's made me want to ride to bikes.

I remember going to the transatlantic races and watching the yanks ride rings around everyone but Sheen. steve Baker was good. But kenny Roberts was something else.

Same here. In fact if I'm totally honest, one of the reasons I got an AR125 as cheap student transport way back when was that I couldn't afford a car and the chap I had my eye on rode an RD350. Obviously he didn't look twice at me, but once I had my bike I had no reason to fancy him any more...

Racers I like(d): Kevin Schwantz, Mick Doohan, Vale Rossi, Colin Edwards, Joey Dunlop, Dave Jefferies, Chris Walker, John Reynolds, James Toseland, Leon Haslam but can't say any of them influence me. Like I could ride like any of them...????

I'm three quarters of the way through a bazza biography ....

I like the bloke ...

But I think, to some extent, in reality he would have been a really annoying git

Too big headed .. and you'd be forever having to check he wasn't trying to shag your wife/girlfiend/sister/mother/neighbour/dog/hamster

He was a right little rampant begger
