Guest
At 10,000+ revs, when I change from 1st to 2nd gear the bike drops into neutral. I have to let the revs drop for a split second to make it into second. OK at lower revs and fine in all other changes, any advice?
Stu
change before 10k i ideally you shouldnt be revving to 10k in first on the road
Guest
Hi stu, commuting to work I'd hardly ever hit that, but scratching at the weekends I try and push it a bit more. I love my bike to bits and I want everything as close to perfection on it as possible! (is that really too much to ask??!)
Guest
Sounds like track days would be the answer

(is that really too much to ask??!) if it was a race bike i would let ya off but as its your road bike i wouldnt advise revving to 10k in first your bike wont really be pulling in 1st it will just fly up as if the engine is running free and can cause a con rod to stretch and cause plenty of damage basicly its like revving the bike at a stand still and you wouldnt rev it to 10k for a long time while stationary hope that helps
Guest
Too right! Gotta save up for a decent 1-piece suit. Brands Hatch is closest. I would just love to have all my bad habits brought into glaring focus by someone in the know! I'm keener than mustard to get that knee down! Trying to educate myself watching the MotoGP and reading 'flick of the wrist' but i still know bugger all really. I'm sure I'll just make a tit of myself, but I don't care!Alright, I am definitely over-revving it in first at those revs but nevertheless I want my bike to behave in any situation! I like to chase my gremlins, probe any weaknesses, you know? Edited June 28, 2008 by Anonymous

Guest
Re: track days ..........Start in the novices group .......And be humble .....You'll learn more, and look less of a twonk if you woops-a-daisy
Guest
You could do something like the Ron Haslem school at Donnie too ... Yor'd learn more there than at a normal track day ... At least to begin with
Guest
Oh god yeah, I'd start right at the bottom, I've no doubt that I know next to nothing! I'd just keep my mouth shut and try and soak everything up!
