ok so as you may know i got my hyosung comet 125 a few weeks ago, i finally just sorted out my CBT and £400 insurance!! so yesterday was the first day i took it :D only to then realise i had problems.......first of it started when i was putting the bike through its pases, i was going through the revs in each gear as you normally would however when id hit say three quaters of the way through each gear the bike would splutter and slightly bounce each rev, then occassionally it would loose all power in each gear and id have to knock it down a gear to get any power going?? however i carried on as it was ok going a little slower, went out practicing with my dad down a county lane, thought best out of sight and traffic, so drove round for about 20mins fine then, as id knock it out of neutral, automatically it would cut out, obvo with the clutch still it so it didnt stall, so id have to start it in first which i eventually got it to do. about 1 mile down the road it looses all power in every gear, so i stop and try to get going again but it kept cutting out, now it would very slowly in 1st gear rev upto 3 thousand revs then either not go past it or just cut out?? it did this for about 15mins then for some reason it just wouldnt start at all, it was sparking just not igniting, fuel was fine etc i was lost....so after we a lil while i realised iv gotta push it home....3 MILES!!!! sweaty and sore, i checked most bits, the spark plug fine, fuel filter fine, im abit lost but i think its something to do with the carb?? im going to try and feed it a clean petrol supply from a different source but i dno if that will do anything?? any help would mean alot!! thanks

Hi fella.

Firstly you haven’t changed the exhaust or air filter to a modified racing one have you??. How many miles has the bike done and has it been sitting for a while?

Also does the rear wheel lock up at all?

First check your spark plug is ok. What is the end of your spark plug like btw??

Clean your carb out but do it properly. Take the carb off and clean it thoroughly with carb cleaner. Clean jets also.

Check your fuel pump.

Clean the pipes which run from your petrol tank to your carb just to make sure there clean.

Clean your air filter, and make sure everything is how its suppose to be.

Then report back, its a process of elimination.

Matty.

cheers guys!! ok kinda resolved the problem, the actual lid on the petrol tank, well the seals around it have gone so where the bikes been left out side by the previous owner, shit loads of water has got into the petrol which then obviously has gone into the carb, so after a clean set of a carbs and a drained petrol tank....she lives once again....with gear box problems lol
