hello everyone

first time on a forum so please bear with me

i bought a 2000 triumph sprint st a couple of months ago which i love but for the vibration at all revs

it has just had its bells & whistles 12000 mile service & the most recent fuel injection map loaded to mate with the triumph perfprmance end can

i have also added foam bar grips & rubber gasket below the handlebars/above fork legs using an old mouse mat (neoprene i think)

but i still get numb fingers/hands after 20/25 mins which is frustrating as its supposed to be a sport tourer

any suggestions would be gratefully recieved

many thanks

wolfman

Hello, stick a post up in newbies! we don't bite

As for your problem, you've done most of the things I'd suggest, try different gloves, change the way you hold the bars. Move the levers round etc etc. just keep trying till you solve it really, good luck!

welcome to the forum mate, are you riding on a bumpy road????

nar all seriousness, is your wheel balancing right, that would cause it to vibrate....

or as vicki says, your mar weights may be slightly different, get new ones and see....

OK before you head off down the vibration route, if your fingers go numb at all speeds it may well be something else, as the triples do vibrate a bit but it generally doesn't make you numb.

I had a mate with very similar symptoms, his left hand would go numb within 15 min or so of being on the bike.

His problem was that he was riding with 2 fingers on the brake and clutch (out of habbit), but his levers were set a little to high which caused his carpel tunnel to pinch either a nerve or the blood supply.

So if you sit on the bike in your normal riding postiion with your fingers resting on the levers, get a mate to look at your forearm and fingers, they should all be in a straight line (releaving any pressure on the carpel tunnel). If not then adjust your levers to suit.

I know rennie said it, I was just trying to add some more detail and to let him know that a mate had exactly the same problem with a very similar bike

Quick update, and some more info for you wolfie,

Triumphs really really dont like tight chains, they vibrate and whine. I was speaking to my mate with the daytona about both your problem and he said to also check the chain tension, it should be on the loose side of limits rather than the tight side if that makes sense or it also sends some vibration through the bike.

Mind you the bike has just been serviced, but may be worth checking anyway.
