SuperMe79
My bike has started to make a quiet but audible squeak when accelerating through 4.5k revs in any gear. I haven't been able to identify a location or anything else like that unfortunately. Does anyone have any pointers / suggestions? Korben
Only thing I can think of mate, is that it may be a very fine vibration. Something will be resonating perfectly at 4.5k revs. If it is something like that, it's a sod to find!!Dunno though mate. Could be something else. Guest
what bike is it? is it in all gears, does it do it if you rev it to 4.5 in neutral?
SuperMe79
Thanks for your suggestions .. they're really helpful. Only thing I can think of mate, is that it may be a very fine vibration. Something will be resonating perfectly at 4.5k revs. Thanks, that's a good suggestion. I don't think it's the answer though because it's a very short (about 0.5 seconds) squeak and only occurs on reaching 4.5k revs. If I hold it at those revs the duration of the squeak does not change. It doesn't seem to make any difference to duration or loudness if I accelerate hard through that rev range or gently. Also, it only happens going up the revs and not going down. what bike is it? is it in all gears, does it do it if you rev it to 4.5 in neutral? It's a Triumph Daytona 675, about 4 weeks old. The problem started about 2 days ago and happens in all gears. It does not seem to happen in neutral if the bike is stationary although I think it happened in neutral when I was coasting with the clutch in. I could be wrong about that though. techno
I had a similar thing at 5k found out it was rear foot peg!But a 4 weeks old just take it back and get them to sort it.
SuperMe79
Yes I will contact my dealer about it on Monday but I wanted to provide as much info as possible and preferably have figured it out. I'll check the foot pegs.
Guest
can you feel the vibration or hear it?hate to say it but main stealer...thats why you paid all that money to them. It could literally be anything, if it def doesnt do it in neutral it may, just may, be gearbox related.
SuperMe79
Thanks for all the help. I'll let you know if I ever discover the cause!
SuperMe79
It has been suggested on a Daytona 675 forum I'm a member of that the squeak is caused by an air intake opening. Here's a link to that discussion in case it's helpful to anyone trawling the Internet about this in the future!http://www.675.cc/675/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=
