Guest
put it this way if someone really wants to steal your bike no matter what you do to it they will hiab etc .But on the other side is most locks etc are visible deterrents that the common ride off for a blast barstewards or spare part scavengers will see and think nah lets find just a steering lock to pop . I myself just use an motrax chain and padlock and if its available something to secure it to but mainly i just run it through rear wheel and frame just to make life harder if anyone does really want my bike .Remember the security is only as secure as the weakest link .There is no point having the strongest chain in the world if the lock is the most easiest pickable/breakable or the ground anchor you use is fixed with the shelf rawplugs that you found rattling around the toolbox . Guest
the lock you show can be used for both either for as a chain to item lockw ith chain supplied or if you not want to carry chain about for town use it can be used as a disk lock ( if it fits through the vents/holes in your disk ) The blurb states it is an 11mm lock and the chain uses 12mm links so check to see if there any gaps on your disk that are near within 12-15 mm of the disk edge( probable gives you a bit more leeway than this but on the safe side ) and that take an 12mmdrill bit or larger if using it as a disk lock get a visible reminder for it so that you don't do the classic pull off posing to fall off sideways into a stack of bikes routine

Sk93
I've used oxford for years.. never had one, or seen one cut. You'll hear an angle grinder going at it, so you'll have plenty of time to find a bat
chrisgatguis
I also had a chain related question. I too have just got a CBR 125. i'm after a chain which will fit into the rear seat storage (its tiny) does a worth while chain exist that would fit in there? chrisgatguis
I just picked up a chunky chain and padlock from Halfords, asked the bloke if i could see if it would fit in the seat and it did. I doubt its the best lock / chain on earth but its big and looks pretty strong. Its called a Magnum Plus (anyone used one / more importantly had a bike pinched with one on?)I think a lot of people agree that its the visual deterant that might stop the scum so i just figured the bigger the better. Ah well.

Don't know about you, but anyone carrying bolt croppers like that around are gonna be spotted a mile off...At the end of the day, ALL chains and locks can be beaten. They're just a deterent, with varying degrees of "deterentness"
