Sam The Man
hi guys,I have sat nav on my phone. I was wondering, should i get a phone holder and stick it on my rev meter? or how else can i mount it? I tried putting it in my pocket but i like to see where i am going and not listening for instructions. I am a bit wary about mounting it on my bike as its visible for other people when i am at traffic lights etcThanks
Stu
i put mine in my tank bag in the map holder on the top you can buy a map holder for about £15 but make sure it has a zip on the bottom and not velcro as your phone will fall out
Sam The Man
I have only got a little "fake" tank so i dont think it will fit on thanks anyways Studo you reckon its ok to get a phone holder?
Guest
I would say that vibrations might be a problem. If you can find a holder that clamps onto the phone and bike securely then it should be ok. The only other issue is the weather which could cause problems in the wet.I tried my car sat nav in the map holder of the tank bag but it's far from ideal because it's not easy to see. It's in the wrong position really and means looking down (away from the important stuff) and also in the sun there was alot of glare from the map holder which didn't work well with the satnav screen.Personally if I was to use a sat nav on a bike I'd probably only refer to it when stationary - the same as looking at an old fasioned map
Stu
nah i wouldnt get a bracket unless it clamps to the phone and your bike if you do find one like that let me know

Sam The Man
Suction cup with lock clip to guarantee your phone remains in place
Guest akey
I wouldnt use a clip, they do not hold the phone securely enough, the bracket may well stay on the rev counter but the phone will come out of the bracket.Have a look at the mounting of the Garmin Zumo to its cradle to see how robust it should be. pumilio
My first choice would be a small tank bag like stu suggested. Barring that I'd definitely go for something like a Ram Mount - I use one on my bike for my Tomtom rider (it actually came with it) and bought a second one for my iPod in my car.http://www.ram-mount.com/You can probably find one on eBay as well. pumilio
I think I saw picks somewhere of somebody with clip-on bars that had a sat-nav monted onto one of the mirror stems. Good luck
Guest
Is that a wrist watch I can see? If so, replace it with the mount and use the built-in clock instead.
Sam The Man
it is a wrist watch. How would i mount it to there?thanks u
Guest
There's a good bit of bar length there which might take a clamp fitting.
