sat nav on phone, on bike question

Recommended Posts

hi guys,

I have sat nav on my phone. I was wondering, should i get a phone holder and stick it on my rev meter? or how else can i mount it? I tried putting it in my pocket but i like to see where i am going and not listening for instructions. I am a bit wary about mounting it on my bike as its visible for other people when i am at traffic lights etc

Thanks

i put mine in my tank bag in the map holder on the top :)

you can buy a map holder for about £15 but make sure it has a zip on the bottom and not velcro as your phone will fall out :?

I would say that vibrations might be a problem. If you can find a holder that clamps onto the phone and bike securely then it should be ok. The only other issue is the weather which could cause problems in the wet.

I tried my car sat nav in the map holder of the tank bag but it's far from ideal because it's not easy to see. It's in the wrong position really and means looking down (away from the important stuff) and also in the sun there was alot of glare from the map holder which didn't work well with the satnav screen.

Personally if I was to use a sat nav on a bike I'd probably only refer to it when stationary - the same as looking at an old fasioned map

I wouldnt use a clip, they do not hold the phone securely enough, the bracket may well stay on the rev counter but the phone will come out of the bracket.

Have a look at the mounting of the Garmin Zumo to its cradle to see how robust it should be.
