Evs7 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 What a terrible crash and at one of the worst points on the circuit. I hope he's ok and makes a speedy recovery. But it did look a nasty one. Very little information about Jonesy condition at the moment. Only a brief statement from FGSport and MSVR."During the FIM Supersport World Championship race at Brands Hatch today, rider Craig Jones (Team Parkalgar Honda) crashed at Clark Curve and appeared to be struck by a following rider, sustaining a serious head injury. The race was immediately stopped."Craig was initially treated at the scene by the MSVR Medical Team, and was then transferred to the Circuit Medical Centre for further assessment and treatment before being flown by the Kent Air Ambulance to the Royal London Hospital, which is the leading trauma centre in region."The BBC website reckons Honda rider Craig Jones had to be transferred to hospial by air ambulance after suffering serious head injuries in a crash at Clark Curve and has been placed in a coma to stabilise his condition.Get Well Soon Jonesy Quote

Guest nastro azzurro Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Unfortunately.....Following his serious crash at Brands Hatch in yesterday’s World Supersport race, Craig Jones has tragically lost his life. The 23-year-old Brit was fighting for the lead in front of thousands of fans in the biggest race of the year when he lost control of his Parkalgar Honda and was subsequently hit by Ten Kate Honda rider Andrew Pitt.Jones sustained serious heads injuries in the crash and after being treated on track was transferred to the circuit medical centre before being airlifted to the Royal London Hospital. Unfortunately despite intensive medical attention Jones died during the early hours of Sunday night.A Sad day. Quote

Voodoo Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Very sad indeed.Must say though, after watching the video on youtube, it really didn't look like that much of a bad crash. I know the rider behind may have clipped him but he was going the same speed so the impact wouldn't have been that much greater. Quote
techno Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Think pitt was injured as well i heard...but if he hit his head would still have been a bad impact as it ripped his visor off. Quote
Evs7 Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 I never had the fortune to meet Craig Jones personally but after watching him on TV and cheering him on over the years I feel like I knew him in some way and I feel extremely empty over this, I can't imagine what his family is going through. He'll be missed.RIP Jonesy Quote

Guest Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 how did pitt get injured? It was his wheel that clipped his head. Its not his girlfriend, they got married and had a wee one.A tragic loss for her, his family and friends an a loss for all his fans.RIP Craig Quote

Korben Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Heard on the Radio 1 news this morning that a new track in Portugal (I think) is naming one of it's corners the "Craig Jones Corner" out of respect for the lost rider.Found this link with a short story regarding it.A great tribute.http://www.bikesportnews.com/articles/a ...
