Mates just bought the above bike and asked me to service it what he says is the front brakes are chattering whilst on the move then stops when the brake is applied,I have stripped them down cleaned and fitted new pads what i think it is the spring plate on the bottom is not supporting the pads even though the allen bolts on the plate are secure hence the pads rattle.Am i on the right track or talking bollocks, does anyone have a answer please

one more question i fitted new pads in the rear and noticed there was no chatter plates is this right or are they missing

the squeel shims are on the front pads and are firmly attached, also a thin film of copper slip on there too, just been talking to someone else and they think piston seals there logic is if theres a small leak then full pressure wont be on the pistons so in turn pads might rattle.I've looked for leaks but cant see anything :? and the bikes stopping ok , I'm going to log on to a ZX9 forum might be more info on them, thanks Stu

is there no one else on this board with a ZX9 C1 :? or if anyone else has any ideas

got a zx9r b1.

i've had trouble with the breaks a while back. it was the discs that were out of true. suggest you check them again to be sure. the seal theory seems a bit odd. you'd have to have brerak fluid squirting out all over the place for it to make the pads rattle!

you never know how the new discs were treated before you got them and also, make sure they are seated properly on the wheel.
