rennie
hello if you're planning on staying around stick up a post in the newbies section and say hello.best thing for gear is to shop around, try stuff on etc.depends what you ride, is it for commuting? just pleasure?, do you plan riding through winter? etc. etc.if you want real budget stuff have a look in aldi or lidl, they sell some bike clothing really cheap. spend as much as you can afford on a helmet though. Have a look around the site!, there's lots of info on here

Korben
Try not to buy anything without trying it on first. It's important that it's comfy and a good fit.The helmet is especially important. Make sure that fits correctly. If you walk into a shop and the guy does not help to make sure it fits correctly then walk away. If he seems more interested in making a sale than making you safe it's not worth the hassle!!Get down your local bike shop. Find what you like, check the size, then go home and browse the web to see if it's cheaper!!Try out site sponsors (Shameless plugging!! ) http://www.motorcycle-store-online.com/EDIT: NEC Bike show at the end of November. Can get really good deals there!!! I got a £330 helmet for £200 last year!!
