Guest
Hi just wandering what the best option is to deal with rusting screws apart from replacing them? Dad advised to use a green scrub thing (can't remember name) and then apply vaseline, he was in navy for 24 years as mechanic/engineer so knows little tricks but is the best option overall to just replace them? Stu
replace them with stainless while you still can as once they go you wont get them off in a hurry
Guest
Any tips on where i can get some stainless screws for my scooter or just any general websites. Looked on http://www.piaggiospareparts.com but you can only buy the stock screws and you buy them singular rather than in a larger quantity. rosszx9r
M&P or MPS express do kits for all sorts of bikes.you can get rechroming kits and nickel plating kits but it's a bit of a faf for a handful of bolts. new ones aren't dear. quick fix - soak in WD40 for and hour them just rub with a rag. Guest
get yourself a can of ACF50 as well, its wicked stuff, lasts for ages and also puts a nice shine on plastics ets too. Its an anti corrosion thing and far better than WD40
slugworth1987
remove screws replace and coat in a non corrosive weather resistant greace (chain wax from castrol is good) if the screws are tight and stiff give the screw a small twist to tighted this will start the screw then undo the screw easy i work with aircraft so see alot of bad screws we coat them in fluid 5 before reinstalling screws this keeps them weather tight on the thred... also try finding alloy screws much better than Stainless and lighter u may save 1.5 a kilo if lal else fails find some plastic ones they wont last long but wont rust
