Guest
Ive just brought a Bandit s 600 on a 1999 V Reg. he has put a lot of work running the bike keeping on top of the inportant bits, But the bike needs a littel TLC. I can grt the bits I need for the Bike of Ebay, but looking a the bike the prolem is the frame he has tuched it up dut it lookes like a 2 year old has done it. I`am looking for some paint but were to go for the right one. its gone around the welds on on one side, I have had a MINI and now what rust is like I can treet it but I just need the paint. (the bike is red) All so as a new rider what would any on recomed to look out for, the bike hads a good record and only done 13000
Grumpy Old Git
If you are experienced with paint, I would suggest stripping the frame right back and use a 2-part paint. Lots of colours available. Lots of places that will sell this (Automotive shops). Google for your nearest stockist and go & have a chat.If not happy with 2-part paints, suggest talk to spray shop and do a deal. Guest
well done, nice choice, where in Sheff are you.Used to have one myself, if you want it to look great and last for a long time get it powdercoated. N and B in Pontefract are great.anything else need doing??has it got service history? if not do an oil and filter ...as its not pricy ...go for semi-synthetic from Hein Gerike...near castle house and you can get a filter there too...never hurts to give it fresh oil. rollazuki
Agreed with what has been said already. If you can live without it for a week or so, strip it and get the frame coated/painted. While the engine is out you can fettle it and clean the hard to reach bits, then she'll look like a new un when its back together.Oh yeah, while the motor is out, source a 750 lump and fit that instead, OR, go for gold and get a gixer 1100 lump and bung that in. You think you are happy now, you would be REALLY happy with 1100cc. Good choice tho, I recon the bandit is just about the finest bike ever designed/made. My fave. rollazuki
Just do yourself a favour and dont get the chrome oil cooler cover/trim.They look really bad.Bigger motocross renthals or similar make the bandit feel very purposefull, as does a noisy can. The oil cooled gixer engine series always sound good thru open filters and a nice end can.
