just wondering about the different ways of carrying around my stuff on the bike on a minimal budget!

using a cargo bag ive seen some say not for weights over 1kg, is this always the case? if i want to use a medium sized bag (eg 20L) will i need to get a pannier rack or is just strapping it to the bike suitable?

cheers

Click on our sponsor (Top Right) and have a look at Buffalo luggage in the Luggage section. I think (Someone may correct me) you will need a rack which the site does not sell, but the price is not too bad (Cheaper than I thought actually) from other sites.

Of course depends on the bike. I can't really use soft luggage panniers due to the exhaust being in the way.

A bungie net is probably the cheapest way to tie down a small backpack or something to your pillion spot.

Next would probably be a decent backpack (depending on what you want to use it for, you might want a nice waterproof one).

For a little more cash You ccould get something a bit more permanent and convenient like a tail pack that is a soft container that straps to the underside of your seat where the pillion would normally sit.

To keep your pillion roost (and give yourself more room) you could get a rack and put a soft or hard topcase on it.

I'd be interested in these, what's the name of the sponsor? I can't see the advert because my browser blocks advertising.

I have the Oxford tail pack as well and its very good. I also use a bungie net to fix waterproof roll top bag to the seat - also good.
