Sound like pop corn when popping! lol I don't have a rev counter.. so don't know the RPM, but its always when its high.. what should i do / check for? Cheers. Quote

Been riding the bike for ages, I know the feel for what the bike can handle. The speed is approx 80-85 (over taking) and should go up near 100 but wont lately... I'm defiantly not revving the nuts of it do the revs stop going any higher when it does it ? Cant tell... no rev counter.. but yeah, it seems they dont go higher... Quote
Guest Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 sounds like a fueling issue. You got a hole in your zorst?blocked up air filter? Quote
softwarez Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 sounds like a fueling issue. You got a hole in your zorst?blocked up air filter? Will give it a check over for these, quickly fitting rear crankshaft oil seal to the car Will report back in a few mins! Quote
softwarez Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 you sure its not the rev limiter Very sure Never had a flat spot before.. and when the burble starts.. I put the gear up and it feels lifeless lol Quote
softwarez Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 is this bike a 2 stroke? Yes, a 2 stroke.I just took the carb out, inspected it.. seems fine. I checked the air filter etc.. all fine.. Hmph..Could it possibly be the Power Valve? (Not sure how the power valve works exactly, apart from opening up on exhaust release etc...) Quote
softwarez Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 I also ride the bike every single day.. So im not just imagining it, or the rev limiter, lol Quote
softwarez Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 Not many 125'poo 85 easily Usually its 0-60 6 secs, top speed 105'ish (speedo out may apply here slightly)Lol seriously though... It HAS something wrong with it at the moment Anyone with advise technically, it's much appreciated Thanks Quote
jabcrosshook Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 (edited) In my opinion, you should have just got a 4 stroke. I couldn't be arsed with a 2 stroke, I'm sure it'd be great for thrashing the life out of but after a little bit I think I'd have regrets. Edited August 26, 2008 by jabcrosshook Quote
softwarez Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 lol This is turning into a general chat thread I swear by 2 strokes for 125's, I cant stand car's overtaking me :/ (I use the bike everyday) and they would try to kill me on my journey, lolAnyhow... Waiting for tech guys, Cheers Tomorrow may check carb over again, makesure the powervalve is clean from exhaust emissions etc. Quote
Guest Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I'd love another 2 stroke, really miss them and had the best fun riding them compared to similar powered 4 strokes for sure! Are you sure you've not caned it a little bit too much and possible blown a ring? Quote

If that sounds like a possible cause, ring damage, then I could also check that out.. take the top end off etc...Would the same gaskets be okay to use if i did this? or would i have to replace? Quote
Guest Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 You will need new gaskets imo, they may split easy enough but for peace of mind I'd get a gasget kit, wont add a lot to your repair. I'd not split the head till you have eliminated simpler things from your investigation tho. as even if its not a ring gone you still will need new coolant and gaskets. Quote
softwarez Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 Yeah... I mean I replaced the entire top end not too long ago.. I don't really 'Thrash' the bike.. hmph... Well.. i'll see how it goes tomorrow and what i check etc. :/ Quote

flipper Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 sounds like power valve or piston damage to me. Quote
Guest Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 modern 125's are perfectly capable of 100mph +The MotoGP125 racers are getting upto 140mph out of their bikes! Those that only get 60-80mph are generally riding restricted bikes.rosszx9r: you are comparing rather old tech to modern stuff there dude. There has been a bit of a revolution recently and the old RD's however much fun they were to us old timers are slow compared to the modern stuff! :D Quote
