Crytisk Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Hi all, I’ve had my Kawasaki Z300 for around 5 years now (67 plate) and the plastics have completely white washed I'm assuming due to the sun over time. I was wondering if people could find a solution to getting them restored, preferably without having to buy new OEM fairings! Appreciate all help posted. many thanks Quote
mealexme Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Wow, that's bad for something so new. I remember the colour red used to have this issue back in the day due to the sun bleaching it. If I remember correctly, a good polish can bring them back to full colour/gloss. Quote
S-Westerly Posted April 2 Posted April 2 There are various colour restore potions on the market. I used one from Muc-Off to restore some faded black plastics on my previous bike and it worked quite well. Quote
Crytisk Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Thanks for the replies. as for the polishing side of things, is it just with a microfibre cloth and a bit of elbow grease or are there specific cloths you have to use, sanding first, etc? Quote
Simon Davey Posted April 2 Posted April 2 As suggested by @S-Westerly there are various products. I would start with just some standard T-cut, smear a little on with any cloth, and just keep rubbing in overlapping circles until you have your result, then buff with something like a microfibre cloth. As with any of these products, test a small area first. It would be wise to treat restored areas with something like a ceramic coating for protection. I just saw all this stuff in Halfords, so it's not just for pro's... 1 Quote
mealexme Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Watch from 7:10. This stuff is good because you can use it by hand, whereas most stuff recommends you do it with a machine 1 1 Quote
Davidtav Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I would be tempted to try wrapping those parts in carbon fibre look film. No doubt a fiddly job. I’ve never done it. But might make the bike look amazing Quote
