j_ase
Hiya, I am looking for a bit of advice....A slightly bitter ex has decided to put sugar in the tank, thankfully she eventually decided to tell me before I was about to start the bike. While waiting for recovery I turned the fuel tap off.Anyway I was wondering would it be ok just to remove tank and replace filter. Obviously I will be draining the tank and rinsing it out with a bit of new fuel and then filling it up.Will that be sufficient? As far as I can think any contaminated fuel will still be in the tank won't it?Any help or advice would be very grateful thanks.Jase
Guest
if i remember correctly ( did it to my dads tank as a kid lol ) sugar does not dissolve in petrol so it will sink to the base of tank still in a solid granule form .... its a case of tank off drain and rinse ( fresh petrol recommended) repeatedly unitl you are absolutely sure it is clear .. take tap off and clear the filter of the tap .....refill & send bill to the ex hopefully due to the tap filter none will have passed through to the carbs . j_ase
Thanks Tim, the bill for recovery alone is up to £130 hopefully all I will only have to shell out for fuel now...Do you think its ok to leave the fuel filter then?Slightly peee'd off as I have just done a major service and done about 100 miles with a new filter on
