Hi all,

Seeing as I am now graduating from a scooter to a proper bike, I am going to need some proper boots! So far I have been using walking boots, which are fine for the scooter, but will be too big and clunky for changing gear and don't offer great ankle protection.

I popped into my local Hein Gericke shop; the boots in there ranged from about £60 up to several hundred £. I tried on a pair of the cheaper ones, they seemed comfortable enough, but, being a complete noob, I wouldn't know a good boot it if kicked me up the arse ...

so, what is the general concensus? Is Hein Gericke good value, quality stuff, or crappy overpriced tat? As I say, I wouldn't know!

TIA for all advice :)

I personally think HG stuff is great - not necessarily the best or cheapest but not the worst or most expensive either.

I agree got my leathers from Hein Gericke and have had no probs with them!

As for boots you realy dont need to go mad with the cash!

What they said.... Look at A-star, TCS (Aka Oxtar), Sidi (If you have slim feet) and RST as well as others (Check out site sponsor as well)..... If you look around you can get some good deals.

Never used HG stuff myself, but heard good things about it though!! :D

I rate HG gear highly. In addition to generally being fair price for the quality (in my opinion), the convenience of having lots of retail shops around with advise on fitting, returns if necessary, seeing a range of stuff in person, etc., make their gear the stuff to beat...

I tried on every pair of boots when i was in HG they've got so much patience, in the end i got the only pair that were comfortable even though they cost double what i wanted to pay

If your planning on riding all year round, make sure they are waterproof. Nothing worse than getting into work with wet feet and having to put wet boots on at the end of the day to ride home in. Believe me, I know.
