Guest Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 My bike needs new tyres and the tyres i have read front - 2.75-18 4 ply rating, the back one reads 3.00-18 4pr 47p.Wtf does all that mean , every site i have been on has different readings and when i type that into google i get some pages pop up with some funky languages.it also says cougar and nylon on them but dont think thats gonna help lol.I have no idea how to buy tyres for this can anyone shed any light on that. Guest Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 If you have the handbook it will tell you the recommended tyres for your bike, and possibly, even an alternative.Contact a local dealer and ask for a quote on the stated tyre spec and tell them what bike it is and they will be able to advise you accordingly. Guest Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 i got the haynes manual but that just gives tyre pressures. The garage around here are expensive i want some comparisons to give them so they dont rip me off again Quote
Guest Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I have been trying to find the spec for it on line - but surely the Haynes should also state tyre sizes.Just make sure that the current tyres are correct and then phone around for a reasonable quote, rememberng that if you are only changing one it is customary to keep to the same make as the other tyre. Guest Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 they're both dodgy, got an advisory note when i had its MOT done last week, sidewalls are cracked. Quote
Guest Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Well, note down all the writing on the tyres, front and back, and do the ring round thingy - or Google the tyre sizes and see what it throws up> Quote
Voodoo Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 They're 18" tyres and the back tyre is slightly wider than the front, i.e 2.75 as opposed to 3.0.I guess the number 4 means 4ply and the 47p no idea, but that doesn't matter, you only need to know the size. Quote
Guest Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 On the Pan sized tyres there's a suffix "U" or "F" which denotes tyrewall strength - the "F" is recommended. Quote
