I start my first practical lesson on Wednesday. But tomorrow, I am taking a 20 mile trip as a passenger on a Kawasaki ZX-6R. I haven't got any bike clothing yet, and I'm a bit concerned about being cold or even risking life and limb.

Anyway. If anyone can advise me on what to wear to be comfortable, I'd appreciate it.

I can only really recommend you don't go pillion tomorrow. If you come off you will probably be injured.

It's up to you at the end of the day... If you are going to do this then all I can say is very hard wearing clothing and to stop you being cold lots of layers.

I would still recommend you don't though....

Whats the weather like over there?

I wouldn't recommend w/o proper bike gear.

If you must, light weight layers and a water/wind proof outer shell.

Wear boots and most importantly GLOVES

It's set to be sunny, about 13 C, though it's been raining today. I'll reconsider. Maybe I'll go shopping for bike gear instead :)

Every bike accident I've heard of from friends and family that involved a pillion, the passenger got hurt more than the rider!

Kit up, its not worth the pain!

In my experience pillions come off worse in accidents.

13C is cold enough when you add in windchill and damp air it can get downright miserable pretty quickly.

I wouldn't take my girlfriend pillion without wearing my old HG jacket and trousers for protection.

Gloves are ALWAYS a must!

Well, I survived!

I borrowed some kit.

Didn't fall off, thankfully.

Went too bloody fast though. Not doing that again.
