stevie16v Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Well, finally got the old bike up and running, Had to replace the rear wheel bearings and remove the engine to retap the exhaust bolt holes. All is now going well, apart from a fuel leak! I'll run through the set up. The carb has a clear/brown pipe and also a black pipe which just hang down. The black pipe appears to come from the very bottom of the carb. This is the one that appears to be leaking fuel. It doesnt appear to be a huge amount but is noticeable and the garage is now stinking of fuel. I was thinking the fuel level is maybe set slightly too high. but i am just new too bikes so aint 100% sure. Oh the leak was there before i removed the engine too. Anyone any ideas? Quote
Stu Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 it "might" be the overflow on the carb which "could" mean the float hight needs settingi dont really know much about the bike to be honest Quote
stevie16v Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 That was my idea aswell. i think i'll take it off tomorrow and try to set it again. only problem is that i dont have a fuel gauge but im sure i could wing it Quote
Guest Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Float hight needs sortin but if the carb is old then it may be past sortin, get a new/second hand one Quote
stevie16v Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 cheers for the input guys. I'll strip it down tomorrow and give it a good clean, re-set the fuel level etc Quote
