Guest
Hey.I have a Kinroad 125 cc chinese motorbike. Ive had it for 6 months and the list of things that have gone wrong with it is big. Heres a list of probs ive had since owning.1.Bolt came loose on front brake disc, lucky enough i discovered it stationary. (all now loctited)2.Bikes got 8 engine mount bolts, 2 disappeared and the other 6 rattled loose (all now replaced with locking nuts/bolts)3.Main fuse kept blowing for some reason (now it doesnt do it????)4.Front halogen bulb keeps blowing (I think the battery needs replacing)5.One of two bolts holding on my left manifold snapped. My latest problem is the chain came off the back sprocket, lucky enough it didnt spin round on the front sprocket, destroying the rest of the bike and my legs. So loosened adjusters and wheel and put chain back onto rear sprocket. Problem is now though that when I ride it makes a funny noise, a bit like a clicking or something caught inside the chain/sprocket. (as far as I can tell the chain isnt too tight, the rear wheel is alligned properly as well)Since the chain come off I have only test rode it up and down the enclosed road I live on, I noticed as well that when I brought it down from second gear to first it was like it didnt engage the gear (1st) It just revved. I had to put it into neutral and then back into 1st gear to move.Ive enquired at a few garages to have it looked at and all of them are very reluctant to take it on and have a look at it due to the problems with getting spares and the simple fact that there just built shit, so I have a feeling if i do have it looked at it will cost me a lot more to fix the bike than what I payed for it (£600)So I have access to a garage and have decided to strip the bike down and re-build it properly. Replacing any duff parts along the way. I am VERY limited in my knowledge of mechanics, I have a few friends who are good at this and I will be using there help as well, but I would rather do it myself and at the same time teach myself mechanics. So my query is what does everyone think about my chain coming off??? Do people think it would be worth my while getting a new sprocket and chain kit, or should I look for something else wrong with the bike first???Also would anybody be interested in giving me a VIRTUAL hand LOL. Ive got a high quality digi camera that I will be taking photos of step by step what I do to the bike. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated.Chris
Guest
My first inclination is to agree with you. Replace them. Without seeing it, it's hard to tell. You state it is aligned correctly amd tensioned ok. This leaves either a tight spot or two in the chain, causing it to ride the sprocket, or a completly mismatched chain and sprocket set. Safest bet is to change em.Failing that, a bucket of petrol, a match and a trip to a Honda dealers....

(as far as I can tell the chain isnt too tight, the rear wheel is alligned properly as well)Put the bike on its centre stand, or a paddock stand and turn the wheel,by hand, keep fingers away from chain and sprocket, listen for Click, it might be you have a frozen/rusted link..Since the chain come off I have only test rode it up and down the enclosed road I live on, I noticed as well that when I brought it down from second gear to first it was like it didnt engage the gear (1st) It just revved. Guest
what kinroad 125 is it? most tend to be cheap copies of the major 4..
Guest
If you have a frozen/rusted link and too much slack in the chain this could have caused the link to jump the sprocket and therefore come off.sort out the chain and you may find your false neutral (Dropping down 2-1) issue is solved too, start with one easy fault, as it may fix another.. Guest
Sadly it seems your next move is to take your Kinroad and get 'kinrid and try another make. It's a pity, at the NEC the Chinese bikes looked pretty good and were well priced, but they aren't up to snuff on the reliability front yet.
