Guest Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 My bike has been doing this on and off for a while, its getting much worse..Could it be anything to do with the brakes are too tight front and back and they are semi on all the time ?Anything I can do about the brakes?Any advice would be great.... Thanks...Luke Quote
Bill_on_a_bike Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Is this when the bike has just been underway? or just sitting in the garden? If it was to do with the brakes, it shouldn't be an issue unless the bike's in gear. It won't be to do with the front brakes. Get the bike on it's centre stand (or just get the back wheel in the air) and spin the back wheel. It should spin freely and take a while to stop. Quote
Guest Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Its the BN125 Kawi. Its been sitting for 3 weeks could be just air in the lines or dirty carbs or both. Just annoying when It cuts out at lights. Aways when I go to open up throtle just dips and dies. Not everytime but too often..thanks Quote

Thanks...Lukeare both front and rear operated by fluid.. if so then they tend to stick when the bikes been left for a while, and should free up after a bit of use, otherwise you will need to remove and strip/clean the pistons as they are not retracting, change the rubbers whiles your at it..if the back is a drum operated by a rod, then adjust the locknut..what idle speed are you on? you could take it up a notch,by adjusting the thumb screw under the carbs. All faults could be from lack of use... so get her fired up and off for a short run.. Guest Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks friend! I dont know what its ticking at as Kawasaki forgot to design a revometer into the bike, easily overlooked.. Do you have to grease the pistons in the disk brakes?? Quote
Guest Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 right you have 2 problems;1 your brakes2 it cutting outthere is no link between the two.1. Brakes should not be on at all when you have no pressure on the brake lever, what can happen if this is the case is that as they heat up the brakes with pump themselves up and lock up....not nice at 50 when you suddenly find yourself on your arse.you need to find what is causing the problem, if it is the pistons that arent retracting you need to take the caliper/s off and pump the pistons out a little(not a lot). You can then grease them use a high quality moly, then push them back in and repeat a few times till they are freed off.2. cutting out could be for a number of reasons but it sounds like poor fueling. Have you got a fuel filter fitted? if not fit one. Turn up your idle...which could be ontop ...or at the side...they arent always underneath.Have you checked your sparkplug? when was it last changed? might be worth simply renewing it straight away.hope this all helps.and please dont ride it with faulty brakes. Guest Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks Bulli, i think we have covered this...Theres no Rev Counter as most cruisers have simple neat lines and double clocks would detract from the norm, as bulli has said, get those brakes looked at, ASAP and then work on the running.. Quote
Guest Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 just "googled" your bike the Rear brake is the older rod and arm to a drum, so can be adjusted by a locknut, that should sort the back brake out, but adjust and check, adjust and check, the front is a single disc so should be a simple job,, just one piston / caliper to look after.. Guest Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks guys - Iv stripeped and re greased the caliper today - I think i need to bleed it again but will have to wait till morning (light)As for the cutting out - It sopunds wierd but every day at the same lights on an uphill aproach i just hear the bike sputter and die. usually start up again tho. Iv uped the idle so its really high (i think -) and its sorted it - Is it bad to have an idle too high?I rekon its at 2200 revs Quote
