stelmer Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) Not good at this so i'll cut to the chase:Scenic ride round North Yorks. Not one to do in Winter due to the ice and snow risk but will be nice when the weather warms up.Meet at Squires 9.30am.Here's the link to the route:ClickyMy Sat nav will change the route slightly from Thornton Le Dale to Whitby via Dalby Forest but you'll like the route.Fuel stops:A64 billboroughA1237/A59 roundaboutA170 HelmsleyA170 KirkbymoorsideA170 Pickering (3) fill up here as it's a long way till the next one.WhitbyScarboroughBridlington is last one till York.Dalby Forest Drive has a £2 toll for Motorbikes. Hopefully the cafe should be open. I know these roads well as I work round there. Quite scenic and remote.Points to mention:Steep Gradient with right-hand hairpin on B1363 Gilling East/oswaldkirk.1in3/30% downhill with an interesting hairpin called Rosedale Chimney on route to Rosedale Abbey, lovley route to here from Kirkbymoorside as well.Near the bottom there is a pub/resteraunt with a fairly large carpark. Could stop here if anybody likes to. Also will stop in Dalby Forest.Sweet hump-back bridge 15 mins out of Rosedale Abbey....... Loads of single track roads and sheep to scare......Plenty of coppers about so not too fast. I'm not a fast rider and I do not overtake much or filter. Edited April 12, 2009 by stelmer Quote

Revvin Kevin Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Considering doing this round Easter. Thinking Easter Monday.I will book that week off work. Let me know if this is ok. Think I have other plans for Easter Most others might too and it always rains at Easter How about another weekend ? Quote
stelmer Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Ok. Rain doesn't bother me..... Seriously, Considering a weekend in May, or even a weekend in March if we get some tasty spring weather. Quote
Revvin Kevin Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 From experience it's best not to pin it on a specific date as we all know how predictable the weather is. Although not ideal from a planning point of view, it would be better for it to take place on the first nice Sunday of March or April for example. Personally, as long as it isn't pi**ing down I'm happy any time Quote
bigsisterbiker Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 nice one kev if i'm home wouldn't mind giving it a go. Quote
