Dino
Yes the scottoiler will work with injected systems by connecting to one of the balance pipes .... have a look at their website as they have bike specific information:http://www.scottoiler.com/

Guest akey
I have the one in the link above and its great, dont know how much life was used on my chain prior to buying the bike (quite a bit I think) but I have done 8000 miles ish, and adjusted the chain twice! (last time was last weekend).

Guest
I Fitted a Scottoiler to my GSF600, but found that it wasn't as reliable as i expected, and sometimes caused the oil to leak especially when the weather was warm, as the oil in the tube expands and then drips, as your not riding, so thought with the GSX (The Kat was a Shafty) that i wouldn't bother getting another one, but still have two bottles of ScottOil.. so reading this makes me think that this is an easier system, which i can use my ScottOil, and less to go wrong...do they do a Club Discount????? Guest
The helpful chap at the Honda dealer in Worthing told me this afternoon that unless you do high mileages the Scottoiler is probably not good value - he said to expect 18-20000 miles out of a chain - hope I don't get the one that breaks at 18 miles...! Guest
I suppose it depends on how you define value... considering (my bike at least) the chain needs cleaning and lubing every 600 miles... thats twice a month when I'm commuting. If you don't do the miles or the bike is for occasional use then a scottoiler would be overkill.. Personally (until i can be arsed to fit my 'lubeman') I get the the brush and lube out every 600 miles.... When this becomes too bloody tedious then I'll be fitting the 'lubeman'..... Guest akey
A chain should be lubed far more than every 600 miles mate, if you are using can lube then I would do it avery 200 miles or once a week, the key is to keep the o-rings supple. The Loobman can use any oil that is safe for o-rings, the recomended oil is engine oil (which I use) you can also use chainsaw oil or scotoiler oil, so dont throw the old stuff away. Guest
When I bought my bike it came with a single feed Scottoiler, but I recently upgraded mine to the dual feed type. I do quite high mileages on the bike (400 a week) and in addition to topping up the Scottoiler oil I also clean (kerosene and some rags/toothbrushes) and re-oil (with engine oil, got loads and loads of the stuff) the chain at the weekend. It only takes 5 minutes or so after I've washed the bike so its time well spent... I don't think my technique is overkill, but some may!Every month I also remove the front sprocket cover to clean all the crap out, and to make sure the nut hasn't come loose
Korben
Sounds Intelligent to me...Personally I clean and lube mine straight after every ride, with a major clean about once a month.

Guest
Thanks for the Loobman link - that looks a lot better than what I was planning to buy! I may mod it slightly and run the pipe under the seat with a stopper on the end. Then I can plug in the bottle at the weekend, fill the pipe and ride round the block to apply the oil. That way the bottle is not in the way, and there is nothing for people to mess with when the bike is parked at work.Horness
