Went to Alf's in Worthing, got a Shoei Raid II in Graphite black, and Weisse Psycho Jacket and 'jeans' - though they look like proper bike trousers to me..! I already got gloves, and boots will wait till next month - any suggestions welcome!

Now i just need to get me a bike! I'll have to get a brightly coloured one as my clothing is all black!

Went and had a look at the Triumph Street Triples , also the Honda CBF600S and drooled all over myself, but to tell the truth will have to trawl the used markets for something in the 600cc range.

It all depends on budget and style,

What are you into?

Race Rep

R6, CBR600, ZX6R

Naked

FZ6, ER6, Bandit,

Trails, or Tourer,

Have you an affinity with a certain marque... I've mainly kept to the Suzuki stable... seem to get on best with them,

and how much or how old are you willing to go...

I'm probably going to be going for some kind of naked bike, the Honda CBF600 or possibly a Kawa ER-6

Not into race reps, don't have the experience or the reflexes to be honest.

The Bandit 600 is a common and easy to find buy, very easy to get along with, especially as a first big bike, and very capable, i know several people, myself included, who have used it a stepping stone in our bike history..

the pre-K (1997-1999) models can be picked up for less than a Grand... and the later K models are good prices due to the bandit 650 replacing it...

I got myself a 1997 Bandit 600S (faired version) as my first big bike and still have it. Its an excellent bike. Very low maintenance, extremely easy to handle, rides well and sporty enough to be a sport bike, yet have the handling and comfort of a touring bike.

A great all rounder and chaep maintenance and parts to boot.

I can't recommend a Fazer FZS600 enough... uses the Thundercat engine ;)

I have the cbf600 and can reccomend it, the only others I have riden are the sv650 (far too small if you actually have legs attached to your body) and the er6 (still too small but better, annoying forward sloping seat) and my old cbr125 (more spacious and comfortable than the sv650 or the er6).

Reviewers have said that the cbf is boring. I can guess what they are used to which makes them think that a top speed of 135mph and 0-60 in 4s is boring, I guess it just shows what is 'normal' to bikers nowadays.
