Hi all I think I will be posting and viewing a lot over the next few months as Ive jumped right into the deep end and purchased a bike knowing absolutely nothing about them.. daft yes but its been a dream of mine for a long time.

So i purchase a L reg restricted Suzuki GSF 400 Bandit , clean looking which full service history to boot so I Kicked the tyres and handed over me cash.

It started fine first day , but since then ive needed my car to jump start it, ive purchased the manual, but you need to know the working to understand this.

So i want to check the simple things first like the plugs, but God only knows where there are and how many there are . is it 4 on ? please can you tell me where they are ?

thanks in advance

Did the bike turn over and not fire ???????????????????//

battery flat so did not turn over ????????????

plugs are on top of engine and yes you prob got to take tank of to get to em

Take the tank off, I know you do on my RS. I'd assume it'd be right underneath the tank over the carb.

yup it has 4 plugs

you see where the radiator is ? look behind the radiator between the frame rails and you will see the plug leads going in to the top of the engine pull these out and the plugs are in there

only take one plug out at a time check and replace the lead then move to the next

but before you do that

does the bike turn over ? or do you have to connect it to the car for it to turn over ?

if the battery isnt charging you need to be looking at different things

ps pop in newbies and tell us a bit about yourself :D

ps you might be able to squeeze in to get the plugs out without taking the tank off

the two inner ones will be the hardest like on the bandit 600 :)

it turns over but does not start, it only started when i connected it to the car battery. i connected it to a fully charged mobility scooter battery today but it just turned over

Get these plugs out and see if they're just coked up. I've heard when carb. bikes are restricted if they're not balanced properly they run rich, which would coke your plugs up.

Or it's some fancy electronics problem.

Someone on here will know anyway :)

Turn the fuel tap to the off position. It's usually somewhere on, or just below the left hand side of the tank, as you sit on the bike.

if you unbolt the tank, slide it back and then turn it though 90' and rest it on the frame you should get by without disconnecting the pipes.

the bandit has a vacuum pipe so shouldn't leak in the off postion..

otherwise if the fuel still flows in the off position, go down to halfords or ask a mate for a line clamp, clamp the hose, and fit a speed connector, this means you can connect and disconnect the tank fuel line safely, did it to my katana..
