Guest
Thought I would have out the piston from my rear brake caliper as it wouldnt be pushed back in all the way with my feeble hands. New brake pads wouldnt leave enough room for disc.Anyway I notice that the criss cross head that I believe is ceramic that sits inside the piston and touches the back of the pad actually turns around. Is is supposed to move?

Guest
brake pistons very rarely push back under hand pressure unless they are quite new and have no fluid pressure behind them.operate the brake so that the piston pushes out as afar as possible ( not that it falls out though ) you can do this by placing the pads in loosely and pushing out piston till it touches these and then with fine wet and dry paper clean around the piston .....clean away any debris around there and then lube with something like copper ease or appropiate lube designed for brake parts use something like a G clamp to return the pistonand just push and return piston a few times to make sure all is free ....yes the centre part rotates and moves to allow for the movemnt of the pad when its agaist the disk otherwise it may cause vibration
