Centre Stand - Dragging

Hi,

My question is a simple one. I live with this guy who thinks it's a great idea to drag my bike around the garage on it's centre stand. I'd love to catch him doing it just to see exactly what he does. Well, it's pissing me off. I don't move his car around as I see fit.

The question is: Can the centre stand be damaged by this dragging? He'll literally slide the bike sideways on the stand, there's a line where it's scraped across the ground.

Yeah it can and will damage the stand, even sitting on your bike with the stand down damages it. The damage will most likely not even be noticable at first, it does take quite a while, but eventually something will snap or bend.

I was shown how to pirouette a bike on the centre stand and was not made aware of any potential damage, however, I wouldn't do it a a matter of course.

My main problem would be with the unsolicited interference with someone else's property.

I saw my local Yam. Dealer head honcho spin a VTR round on it's SIDE Stand alone.

I'd like to think they're stronger than they look, but i fear they're not.

i do this with the zed but you do need to watch the pivot bolts as it can stress the bolt past what it is designed to

can do it same as ppf on the centre as well but find its bloody awkward

as for sliding it sideways

again its placing a stress on the bolts in an angle that they are designed for same as the mountings

i think the problem isn't with the stand but with your flatmate, this behaviour is bang out of order, and i doubt he'd be impressed if you dragged his car out on the handbrake with something with necessary force. ps theres a post on here for aftermarket sidestands for the YBR as they didn't fit one as standard..
