Help with my jacket!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Im an all year rider and i have a hein gerike crusie gtx jacket was top notch when i bought it around 279 quid i think, but just after christmas its got really really cold down the zip area and across my waist, its been fine all other winters and in even colder weather than this that we are having now, is there anything i can do to revive my jackets warmth apart from wearing more layers, the jackets only 2 years old, but i dont think warenty will cover it because it doesnt let wet in!

any help would be gratefully recieved,

Is the wind getting to the zip as you are sat on the bike? You know, as it sorta folds iself up? If you are feeling the cold somewhere thats normally why..... I will assume that you are buttoning the windflap down......but it still happens. Is there a barrier on the inside of the jacket to counteract this? It sounds like this is where the problem lies. without see the state of ya jacket its hard to comment, but I'd look there as a start m8. Then maybe consider what you can do to stop the wind getting in there. Maybe iron flat the inside and outside windflaps? Maybe wash and then retreat your jacket? My HG jacket ,i never washed in years and it never stopped being waterproof, but i did suffer from the same problem you are describing.. mine was caused by wind getting to the zip, solved by paying that particular area a bit more attention when i was kitting up. Never went completly mind.....

Hope this helps at least a bit m8 :D

You say you`re getting cold accross the waist. May I suggest a kidney belt. I have a back protector with a waist band and this tends to stop the cold getting around them parts, and it will help with a bit more protection.

Might be worth trying a suitable Wash-in Nixwax, I think they make claims that their products can help with thermal stuff, but don't really see how that would work?

If the jacket feels like the filling/lining has been displaced, it may be worth taking to somewhere that offers garment alterations, who may be able to neatly open it up, investigate/repair and stitch back together nice and neatly.
