Guest
Hey EveryoneIt looks like I might have a problem. I'm losing oil and I haven't got an external leak. I filled it up to half way last weekend and today it's hardly visible in the viewing glass. The exhaust doesn't look too black, just looks like normal deposit but people have commented that they can smell burning oil when I've passed them.I presume it's a big problem, but does anyone have any ideas what it could be?thanksPedro
Revvin Kevin
Valve stem seals/guides or rings, depends if there's any smoke when it's cold or on the overun when shutting off after accelerating. You're probably looking at a topend rebuild and new rings while you're at it. How many miles on the clock ?
Guest
I've noticed some white smoke when cold, but nothing blue. It's got 28k on the clock. Any ideas on cost for a top end rebuild?
Bill_on_a_bike
Oil smoke can look blue or white. Black smoke means running rich, anything else is baad. How many miles has this thing got on the clock? Is it an ex-track bike?I'd imagine a top end rebuild would cost a hell of alot.

Depends how much work you could do yourself ? A dealer would probably charge upto £400 at least.
