Guest
I have a Fog City Hyper Optik insert fitted to the visor of my Caberg Justissimo GT. The insert works fantastically, no fogging, tints in sun to prevent glare etc., however tonight it came unstuck! Anyone else suffered this? I thought I'd pressed it on pretty firmly when I fitted it - but it just fell off tonight. Is there any adhesive I can use to run around the edges to make sure it stays put this time?Horness
Guest
I have the same one but it hasn't come unstuck... did you apply it when the visor was warm etc. so the adhesive was sticky?
MtotheJ
I don't think there are, my mate had the same problem. In the end gave up and bought the pinlock system.
Guest
I've re-applied it to the visor, and am about to put it in the airing cupboard over night to keep it warm to allow the glue to stick.I "think" it could be that I store the helmet in the garage where it's cold, and regularly flip the visor up and down, which causes the rubber on the lid to rub along the insert. Not happy though. Caberg do an anti-fog visor replacement, but some sites have it down as a clear replacement, and some actually say it's anti fog.Wish I'd got a lid with a pinlock system, or an anti-fog visor as standard now. Guest
I have the same too Horness, no probs with mine either.
Guest
I've re-applied it again, this time to a warm visor which I left in the airing cupboard for 48 hours after fitting to keep warm. Hopefully this will do the trick. I was surprised the adhesive was only around the edges - I expected something more like the tinted film you get for car windows.Let's hope it stays in place this time. Horness thats the thing though its the airgap between the two surfaces that stops it fogging and must say my visor starting to give up its anti fog capability now ..... tempted to see if they canbe adapted to pinlock system lol
Guest
I noticed many places have stopped the stick on insert.Don't fancy drilling two holes in the visor to make it a pin lock. Horness
Jixerman
I bought some antifog spray from my local Halfords storeIts by Muc-Off and has a gold label. Quite expensive at about a tenner, but it works
MtotheJ
I dont see why they can't be. Just get a visor with the holes in as a guide. Get a good drill and get to work =). It may crack though...it doesnt seem like that kind of plastic though.
Guest
OK - this *&^%$£@ Fog City Hyper Optik insert is really starting to annoy me.Once again - it's fallen off. Are there any adhesives or tapes that are safe to use to get this thing to stick back on? I'm almost considering cutting a small strip of Duct tape and running around the top edge.Any help/advice appreciated.Horness
Guest
Not having much luck with your insert are you Horness I would suggest finding some high tack double sided adhesive tape. Take your time cleaning off the old stuff, and cutting it to size all the way around. Bear in mind, it is likely to work like a double glazed window, so the cavity between the visor and the insert probably needs to be reasonably airtight and dry when you do it.Good luck m8.Incidentally, mine is still fine. Guest
Dan - I may give some of the spray a try from Halfrauds.Stu - If the spray does not work... out comes the drill... ...Is there anything good for the outside of the visor in terms of rain-x etc., and anti-misting ? Figure if I'm out buying potions may as well get it all sorted. CheersHorness aka "foggy"
Guest
Warm air holds more water vapour than cold so even if it didn't come unstuck there's a chance it would be permanently foggy.
Guest
Rain X, shouldn't be used on visors..Holts do a visor spray, that is supposed to do both, stop the misting and be a good rain .. erm ....thingy.The anti misting I can vouch for, works pretty well. never used it on the outside of visor though. Guest
Going to try this first...http://www.muc-off.com/motorcycle/rider_care/images/premium_anti-fog_treatment_35mm_07.jpgMUC-OFF PREMIUM ANTI-FOG TREATMENT Intensive anti-mist formula Creates a transparent micro-thin anti-fog coating Advanced moisture absorption If used on the outside of the visor, rain will bead off to further improve safety Safe on plastics and glass Can last for up to 5 days £9.29 from Halfords Says it can be used on both the inside and outside.However... After cleaning the visor last night in warm soapy water I realised that it already has some sort of anti-fog coating on it (rainbow effect under certain light), albeit that it does not work as well as an insert - but this could be why the Fog City insert is not applying as it should. The glue is pretty much useless now on the Hyper Optik (£30 for 4 months wasted) so I rode without it this morning. Some fogging was present, so I definately need something inside and out. When it's time for me to replace my helmet, I'm making sure the next one has a pinlock system on it. Guest
The energizer bunny of visor threads continues... I purchased the Holts spray first (cheapest) followed by the Muc Off Anti Fog treatment. To be honest, did not think much of the Holts spray. It worked, but the coverage did not seem to be as even as the Muc Off, and it did not last as long. The Muc Off spray covers easily, and lasts 4-6 days (depending on weather/cleaning needs). I will continue to use them though, as it helps the rain to bead and run off quickly.Back to the inserts though - has anyone fitted a DIY Pinlock Kit? I found this one on The Visor Shop.http://www.thevisorshop.com/acatalog/diykitlarge.jpgPINLOCK DIY KITThese kits contain a stencil & drill bit, so you can drill your own visor and insert pins so that it can accept a pinlock insert. pins & a clear pinlock insert are also included in the kit. aditional coloured inserts are available separetely. Now, because my Fog City Hyper Optik insert has the cut outs for a pin lock system (but it's not sticking) I'm thinking of ordering the kit above to hold it in place. However, it means drilling my visor... However if all goes well, the fogging will be history, and the Fog City insert will not be wasted.Thoughts / Suggestions?http://babyboomeradvisorclub.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/bnybigbunny_img.jpg
Guest
Pledge on the outside and a drop of little fairy liquid on the inside. and get some cleaning wipes for specs, from the supermarket, cheaper than bike shop visor wipes, but made for plastic lenses so just as good..i have a plastic sunstrip inside the visor and a foggy insert.. sunstrip doesn't go low enough, so i still get blinded, have to tilt head forward. PITA, but for sunny days have an iridium visor on helmet no.
