Guest
right ive got a generic trigger sm50 it was brand new in december and i want to put a bigger sprocket on the fronti currently have 11t on front and 54t on back. i was thinking of going up to either 12 or 13 maybe 14 i dont want to sacrifice too much acceleration but id like a bit more top end any ideas? Also if i was to get a new front sprocket would i need a new chain or could i get a new link for the old one?? thanks
Guest philgale
firstly why do you need top end? bikes are all about acceleration...also where does your speedo get its reading from? your speedo may read wrong after
Guest
ive got plenty of acceleration but itss screaming at me when i just hit 40 and my speedo gets reading from the front wheel
Bill_on_a_bike
upping the front will give you less top end, surely?
cyberwolf
upping the front will give you less top end, surely? nope lolfor more top end speed more on front and less on back
Bill_on_a_bike
Wouldn't that mean the back wheel will do fewer turns per turn of the output shaft?
Guest
no because for one rotation of the front sprocket you get say one turn (on bigger front) instead of say 3/4 turn for smaller sprocket
Bill_on_a_bike
eeeeh, how thick am I, I do apologise
Guest philgale
if you think back to when you rode a push bike, you could always go faster in a higher gear (bigger sprocket) on the frontfaster acceleration with smaller on the front
