Guest
Can't be bothered to set up 2 topics, so I'm gonna ask you all 2 questions:1) Which Sat Nav I should get, waterproofed one obviously.. 150 ish quid.. more or less. I want it to be included police camera warning etc. 2) About the helmet, I never put the vision down, as every time I do that, theres a mist coming up in my vision whereas I can't see anything on the road. So any way you could stop the foggy vision? My helmet's crappy AGV Longway by the way.Jase
MonkeyKnuckle
Easiest thing I've found for the misting is just to leave your visor open a couple of centimeters. I've tried a load of other things and just leaving it open a crack seems to work best.As for the sat nav, you're going to struggle to find a waterproof one for £150. Mine is quite an old one (Garmin Zumo) and cost over £200.
MtotheJ
Not to sure about the sat nav but I'm pretty sure you won't find a waterproof one for £150. They are around the £200-£300 mark i think. What I use at the moment if i absolutely have to is the car one and just put it in my pocket, not ideal but good for quick trips.About the helmet, there are loads of solutions. A new fog free visor, Fog city inserts, Pinlock (the best, not sure if they do them for AGV though), sprays, waxes, masks and there are probably more. Sprays and waxes can be good if you get the right ones but you have to keep redoing the visor. I had an AGV and the visor was fog free and never had a problem with misting up but many 'fog free' visors do fog up. I use pinlock on my Shoei which is faultless and never ever ever ever fogs. The cheapest and best for an AGV (as i dont think they do pinlock, i may be wrong) are the fog city inserts. Give em a google.
Guest
Thanks for the advices about the mist in the helmet, I'll googl-ing them later. As for SatNav, guess I'll go for normal SatNav, and use them on non-rainy day. On the rainy day, I guess I'll do the same as you, put the SatNav in the pocket. Thanks.

Stu
with most sat navs there is no way of fitting it to the bike securley and they arent waterproof the tomtom rider is made for bikes and comes with a proper mount
pumilio
There are tons of cheap-ish options for bike satnav (all of which have been discussed on this forum. A lot. ). As above, tomtom rider is a good option; I had one and loved it, except for the fact that there is a known manufacturing flaw that makes many units cease charging up in the bike's charging cradle. Mine did it, the cradle was replaced under warranty, the second cradle did exactly the same thing after a month of light use I recently bought a garmin zumo 550 and so far I couldn't be happier with it... bit higher than your price range though! Guest
I use a £60 sat nav ...when it rains it goes in a plastic bag or it goes bang .....Camera warning system ....easier to be looking at the road than concentrating on a small screen ....as most sat navs will not be in view on a motorbike Unless it's like mine with a tall screen that does not block view of road and i use a normal car mount either suctioned to the screen or to the rev counter ... once its on there it does not come off whilst riding ( getting it to stick sometimes is a pain ) and after travelling over 25 thousand miles with one on a bike i have not dropped one yet .......and if you are an AA member they do a discount fo about £65 ( it may be some other figure ) off Garmin sat navs ...http://www.theaa.com/membersclub/benefits/garmin.html
johno
I must be old fashioned i still use a map! never lets me down never blows up and because you have to stop to check it you never get distracted with that annoying voice in your ear. i have one for most areas of the country and all together it was still less than the cost of a sat nav
bbobeckyj
Waterproof any satnav (or any small electricals such as mobiles) with the fishermans' trick, use a condom on it.

Guest
I bought this satnav the other week for £44.99, Not a bike one or waterproof but it has an earphone socket so you can easily connect to your helmet and wrapped in clingfilm it becomes waterproof! It'll easily sit in my bikes fairing (out of almost all the weather) over the revcounter with very little ingenuity needed. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/146672As you can see from the reviews most owners fit Tomtom7 software to it, I've got TT7 europe downloaded but am using the original software/maps for now as they seem pretty good anyway. I was pointed towards this satnav by a Honda Blackbird forum
Stu
jota i would really recomend the tomtom software as theres a really neat program you can use to plot routes using google maps then load them to the sat nav
bigsisterbiker
as well as inserts and sprays and such, these can help too breath guard you velcro to the inside of your lid, you can get others that attach differently too. this one's a foggy respro
MonkeyKnuckle
I have one of those foggy masks and couldn't get on with it at all. I set it all up at home so it wasn't misting up. As soon as I tried it on the bike it was leaking (therefore misting) and pushing up so it was right under my eye making it water so I had to struggle to see where I was going. bbobeckyj
As above I have a foggy mask, it works well enough if it fits perfectly into your helmet, even then it's not perfect. Pinlock is best, fogcity probably as good but not removable.
bigsisterbiker
my brother uses a shoei one that fits on the helmet between the padding and shell, like a chin curtain, and swears by it. works with the insert to reduce fogging as it redirects breath down away from your visoralways thought the foggy one looked a bit bulky, and have heard people moan about them before
Guest
RE Sat Nav - what mobile phone have you got? Some mobile phones will run sat nav software, and may only need a bluetooth GPS if they have not got one built in.RE Visor fogging - I've got a Fog City Hyper Optik insert for my Caberg. If your visor has the pinlock system (2 small holes in it) then get the pinlock one. Mine is an adhesive insert. The insert works great, and tints in the sun etc., however recently it came un-stuck, and I had to re-apply it. This may have been caused by me fitting it to a cold visor in the first place though.Horness

wiffers
For SatNav, get a symbian phone, and buy the TomTom software (or use AmazeGPS - it's free), then you can navigate via headphones
