time to buy a new helmet??

Recommended Posts

I bought my Arai Condor last june and have used it for commuting every day... now ive noticed recently its started to feel alot looser than it first did and its got to the point where if i shake my head the helmet moves a fair bit. Surely helmets should last longer than 9 months even with use every day?? is it worth buying a new one?

It's probably just the pads that have worn a bit... I must admit I am surprised at Arai doing this. I thought they would go a lot longer before this happens.

See if you can remove the pads and add new ones. It's a cheaper alternative than a new helmet....

I have an Arai Astro-R and had a custom fit done around a month after buying it. The guy put 5mm additional foam in the cheek pads and 5mm foam patch at the back of the lid. Nice and snug :)

If you need to get a better fit either get yourself custom fitted at your local Arai 5 star dealer, or buy some foam and glue and do it yourself. I bought my lid in October last year and have since ridden 8k miles since then... so far so good, but I will put some foam in the cheek pads as and when.
